Großformatige Malerei und Buch „Figura“

Sandra Strēle schreibt dazu:

The main idea of the work is based on classical model figure studies. Nature studies as a source of inspiration, when the visible objects are not copied but interpreted, leaving for the viewer only a few clear details. The relationship between the space and figures is solved differently - experimenting with shapes, sizes, proportions and positioning against each other.
Nowadays in the Latvian art scene the landscape is a dominant genre. However, any visually depicted landscape is "human" - the human observation factor in the visual arts is inevitable, regardless whether the universe is being displayed or a local, mundane landscape, which has been captured by only one person. In the painting and book „FIGURE” I summarize recent artistic inspirations to achieve a great convergence between a human figure and abstract natural forms- as a "figural landscape".
Creating and developing my painting compositions I follow painting values based in traditions, which I try to put into a contemporary context.

"Tumšais lietus" 2014 (Dunkelheit) Installation aus Stahl Öl Gummi 2 m x 1 m x 1m

Lauris Vītoliņs schreibt dazu:

This work was made for the exhibition which took participation in Germany, in Hamburg, on the theme of 100 years since the First World War.
Idea of work is what materials we use, and what consequences it may lead. On the one side, it facilitates human life and on the other, it can contaminate. Oil is the cause of the First and Second World War. War devastating effects are reflected today.
Any war is destructive, war all means are formed from the same resources. Resources are combined and allocated, but in the end everything comes back to the same place. More technology develops more damage it might cause to humanity.
